Pohang University of Science and Technology

The Department of Physics and the Institute for Edge of Theoretical Science (IES) of POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology), ranked No. 28 in the Times Higher Education (THE) Annual Survey of universities in the world in 2010, is seeking to fill one tenure-track faculty position in theoretical physics. The IES, founded in 2010, is a research institute on-campus that pursues the highest quality of interdisciplinary research in theoretical science. The position will be jointly affiliated with the Department of Physics and the IES.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in physics or a related field and more than two years of post-doc experience in his/her research field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach, in English, undergraduate and graduate courses, and to supervise graduate students, but is expected to focus more on research activities in association with the IES. Applicants must have the ability to establish a strong research program. The successful candidate is expected to start from September of 2011 or March of 2012. The selected candidates will lead a frontier research on edge topics of theoretical physics.
