Dear AKPA colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that the 2021 OYRA will be given to two outstanding Korean physicists.

Dr. Joonhee Choi (IQIM Postdoctoral Scholar at Caltech)

Dr. Choi is an experimentalist in Quantum Optics, Atomic Physics, and Quantum Information Science. He made seminal advances in a wide variety of fields ranging from quantum optics, ultrafast phenomena, and quantum many-body physics to practical applications in quantum metrology and quantum information processing. He received his Ph.D./A.M. in Applied Physics/Physics from Harvard and his M.S/B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from KAIST.

Dr. Min Gyu Kim (Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee)

Dr. Kim is an experimental condensed matter physicist.  He is an expert on Xray and neutron imaging and spectroscopic techniques for investigating quantum phenomena in various condensed matter systems. His recent work highlights the development of innovative X-ray imaging techniques capable of visualizing antiferromagnetic domains in real space and in real-time without math-intensive computation. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Iowa State Univ. and his M.S/B.S. in Physics from the University of Seoul.
